Future Systems were invited to create a concept for all the Marni stand-alone shops and units within department stores in London, Milan, Paris, New York, Tokyo and Kuwait.

The spirit of the shops has been generated by the clothes themselves. Textures, colour, composition and beauty in nature are the inspirations for this response. We attempted to create an abstract interior landscape. The clothes becoming part of an overall composition, not separated from the design, but part of it.

The clothes are presented on sculptural islands which sit against the brightly coloured backdrop of the rest of the shop. In the stand-alone shops, the curved shape of the island is literally reflected by mirror polished stainless steel ceiling in the same shape, removing the feeling of being in a typical rectilinear shop.
