| The site, its cultural prominence and location,
together with a complex programme, demanded from us an alternative
approach; park, culture and commerce form a seamless whole.

| Buildings are normally viewed as objects that
sit in context. They seem to objectify their separateness from
their surroundings. We wanted to take the view that the site
suggests the possibility of non-object buildings, in which architecture
and landscape are one. Southbank was our first collaboration
with Anish Kapoor. |
